SALUTATION OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES

O lovely Virgin of Lourdes, our Lady:

Truly thou art full of grace,

and the Lord is truly with thee!

 

Blessed Virgin,

sky and stars, earth and water, and all created things

rejoice that in thee they are restored to their lost beauty,

and endowed with inexpressible grace.

The universe rejoices in new loveliness that

eye had not seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined.

For by thy flesh the invisible Creator is made visible,

and the grace of God appeared to save us.

When he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about the parable. He said to them, “So you also do not understand? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach, and goes out into the sewer? It is the things that come out of a man that defile him. For it is from within, from the human heart, that evil intentions come: fornication, theft, murder, and adultery; avarice, wickedness, deceit, and lustfulness; envy, slander, pride, and folly. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man.

And this is what some of you used to be. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God…. 

 

The body is not meant for fornication but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. Now God has raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? God forbid! Do you not know that whoever is united to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, The two shall be one flesh. But anyone united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

The Glories of the Lord

We do not have a lasting city on earth,

but seek one that is to come.

Our citizenship is in heaven,

and it is from there that we look for our Savior,

the Lord Jesus Christ,

who by his power to subject all things to himself

will conform the body of our lowliness to the body of his glory.

Though we have the firstfruits of the Spirit,

we await the redemption of our bodies.

With eager hope, then, 

let us ponder the glories of our Lord’s resurrection,

kept for us in the immaculate heart of Mary.
